Veteran's entries

Teams from industry and from our fourth years, postgraduates and lecturers are welcome to enter the veteran's race. A total of eight entries will be allowed in this category of which three will be reserved for the fourth years entering through the ESP411 DSP Programming & Application module.

Rules

  1. The ARV needs to navigate on its own along the green line as specified for the third year assignment.
  2. The ARV needs to be started with a capacitive touch switch and it needs to stop within 100 mm from the end of the track, after crossing the finish line.
  3. With the exception of ARVs that are re-entered from the 2013 and 2014 races, all the rules regarding size and the use of components and motors apply.
    • Preferably a PIC18F45K20 at the core of the project to be able to compare your entry (for your own reference) to the third year students' entries.
    • Prescribed motors: N20-kit brushed dc motor available from Microrobotics. More info at ToHobby.
  4. Programming need not be in assembly for veteran's teams.
  5. The winner from the veteran's race will compete as a 9th entry in the final race, but will not be eligible to the main race's prizes.
  6. The timing of the veteran's entry in the final race might be manual since the current gantry only allows for 8 lanes to be automatically timed.
  7. A special prize will be awarded to the winner of the veteran's race.
  8. Entries for the veteran's race close on 11 May 2015.
