Laboratories

In our department we house the Networking Laboratories (Eng2, Floor 3 South), Electronic Laboratories (Eng2, Floor 1 North-East) and Electrical Laboratories.

Networking Laboratories

This group of tree venues are utilized by 3e & 4th year Computer Engineering students as well as Post Graduate courses of the Computer Engineering group. Access to these labs is controlled by an access cards system. These labs have 24/7 access and are further secured by a CCTV surveillance system.

Rules of usage: all undergraduate labs

All students using any of the undergraduate labs of the Department of Electrical, Electronic and Computer engineering, please note the following usage rules.

► Access to the laboratories will be denied if these rules are not adhered to.

► These rules apply 24/7.

• Food in the labs. No food is allowed in the laboratories at any time.

• Music in the labs. No radios or other music reproducing devices are allowed in the laboratories during scheduled practicals, and are allowed at all other times only with the use of earphones. Even when listening with earphones, note that people often use levels so loud that this may still be a disturbance to others. Therefore, listening at these levels are also not allowed in the labs.

• Loud talking or other noise in the labs. The laboratory is a learning environment and students will not be allowed to disturb others.

• Behaviour in the labs. Students are expected to act professionally. No unruly behaviour will be tolerated in the laboratories.

• Clothing in the labs. For security reasons, no caps or hats may be worn in the laboratories.

• Student cards. For security reasons, student cards must be worn conspicuously in the labs.

Complaints procedure. Students that wish to report incidents or non-compliance with these rules, should send an email or report incidents personally to mr Henry O'Kennedy as soon as possible, but not more than 24 hours after the incident has occurred. Provide detail such as incident, time, place, and name of students involved where available.
