Statistical Signal Processing, Digital Communications, Estimation and Detection, Model Predictive Control, Numerical Bayesian Methods, Bayesian non-parametric methods, Adaptive Systems, Machine Learning, Trajectory Generation and Following, Mutli-sensor and multi-target tracking and information fusion.

Postgraduate Supervision

  • Mr. Etienne Ackermann: Bayesian parametric and Gaussian process modeling of ionospheric Total Electron Content profiles using dual frequency GPS data.
  • Mr. Theo Heyns: Gaussian process modeling and classification for prognosis and diagnosis in mechanical systems.
  • Mr. SJ van der Merwe: A portable microwave and ionospheric RF channel sounder.
  • Mr. Richard Focke: Multisensor track fusion. (co-supervision with Prof. Mike Inggs at UCT)
  • Mr. Mathlomola Xaba: Autonomous vehicle Simultaneous Localisation and Mapping (SLAM) with specific focus on the data association problem.
