The Advanced Computing and Embedded Systems (ACES) group aims to research and
develop new application specific computing and embedded architectures. The
ACES group operates as a sub-group of the Intelligent Systems Group (ISG),
from where many of the applications are derived.
Prospective students interested in the research areas of the ISG should read
about the departmental graduate admission
requirements and process. Note that in order to apply for admission to the
Masters program (MEng), a BEng(Hons) degree is required. The BEng(Hons) degree
is a 1 year postgraduate degree (full-time) subsequent to a 4 year BEng
degree. Upon the completion of the BEng(Hons) degree, the student can then
continue postgraduate studies in the form of research based MEng and PhD
degrees.
Postgraduate studies therefore typically begins with a 1 year full-time
BEng(Hons) degree, which entails coursework consisting of four 32 credit
modules. The Honours level modules presented by members of this group and
which form part of this group's activities include:
Graduate modules (Honours level) presented by members of this group and which

Apart from the above modules, the module EIN 732 Introduction to Research
is considered essential for any new postgraduate student intending to continue
with postgraduate studies (i.e. MEng).
If you wish to join the research group and comply with the admission
requirements, please contact the group leader (Mr H
Grobler) for more information and to discuss the opportunities available.
